Investigates the physical systems used to implement quantum computers. Covers basics of atomic clocks, laser interferometers, quantum key distribution, quantum networks, and three types of qubits (ion-based, superconductor-based, and semiconductor-based).
Why did I take this class??
PHYS457 inspired me to learn more about quantum computing, and this looks like a good class to learn about quantum hardware. Also counts for physics minor, otherwise I would have taken PHYS410 (Classical Mechanics) instead.
Summary
For better or worse, the course was decided to be virtual after I signed up.
